Kaluna was ready for our arrival, but that was not the purpose of the two Red Exemplars sent ahead of us. It seems they went beyond Kaluna, and traveled to Aguna where Dawn grew up. Knowing how Dawn abruptly left her home a number of years ago, Pelmarco wanted to give her adoptive parents a chance to see her again and say goodbye. They were waiting for us in Kaluna. Dawn was surprised to see them, and admitted she probably shouldn’t have left without telling anyone. They forgave her for taking their horse, although she would have returned it if Grrerrgkzh hadn’t eaten it. Other than her parents, no one else seemed to have seen a Huvudet before. Dawn was no doubt the object of much gawking because of this, and was relieved when Tilendru dispersed the crowd that welcomed us.

Tilendru was also waiting for us to arrive. He talked with Pelmarco regarding the various changes he made to law enforcement in the region, and claimed they’d caught over ten members of a smuggling ring since we last visited. He didn’t think there were many other members of the smuggling ring remaining, and if there were, they were definitely refraining from any smuggling. Tilendru also announced that he’d organized the local towns and villages under a regional government. This made it easier to enforce laws when criminals traveled from place to place since different places often have different laws. Niahla’Sen thinks Tilendru is trying to make a kingdom from the area, but Pelmarco argued that just forming a government does not make a kingdom.

The one person sorely missed in Kaluna is Rar. His antics during the last time we passed through the city had quite an impression on the inhabitants. It seems that he’s a local legend now, and people still talk about him throwing a spear at a tavern dartboard. There were also a few people asking where the telefs were, but we let them know we released the telefs over a year ago.
