Barnacle

The large barnacles of the Dark Wasteland are actually only a small portion of a greater gelatinous creature which lives in an extensive system of caverns which connect a number of the aboveground barnacles.

The barnacle part is conical in shape. When an unsuspecting victim moves too close, a thin yet strong claw reaches from inside the cone and grabs the victim, dragging them in. Once inside, the rest of the creature literally dissolves the victim and absorbs the nutrients into its system.

Naiya'Nal made the mistake of attacking a barnacle. She succeeded in destroying the claw but as she was looking into the cone, she discovered that the creature could move claws between cones and she was quickly attacked. She had to freeze the creature and then burn the ice in order to kill it and barely survived her ordeal.
