Nasad is a large coastal city in Nerak. While the city has become an center of trade and travel, it is better known for the great fortress located only a short distance away.

The Fortress of Nasad is the greatest fortress in all Nebulum and has never been overthrown (yet). Exactly when and who built the fortress remains unknown but according to rumors and ancient legends, the Lunari built it shortly after the creation of the world to facilitate in the fulfillment of one of their last prophecies. The fortress was built on the side of a mountain facing the coast. A long wall lines a platform large enough to contain thousands of soldiers. At its highest point from the ground, the wall is at least 40 feet high and the only ways into the fortress is at either end of the wall along the mountain sides.

While the fortress itself is quite impressive, there is an even greater marvel contained within the fortress itself. A large section of the mountain was sheared away during construction of the fortress and into the wall of rock, a great tunnel was carved. The tunnel leads down into the mountain and then stretches north for a long distance until it finally comes out onto the Island of Kimb. Inside the tunnel, there are great caverns which are always kept full of preparations. Hundreds of thousands of people could survive for several years in the tunnel alone and the island has even more supplies. Back at the fortress, the tunnel can be blocked by two large doors. They are always kept open because once shut, they will never be opened again.

There is an inscription carved above the great doors. It reads as follows:

times lend much to our light friend

contend with rock a path to rend
an end the shining red defend

and send the broken world to mend

It is rumored that this phrase confirms that the Lunari built the fortress and tunnel and that the Red Exemplars would defend the doors while the rest of the world escaped into the tunnel. It is because of this that no king has ever dared to use the tunnel as an escape in the ordinary political wars which sometimes ravaged the land.
