Garna

Garna was a land northeast of Panei and west of Mekender. A significant portion of the land was north of the Arctic Circle, and subsequently covered with ice. In 5407 [8:851], a ship taking Prince Markaris VIII and some soldiers to Etnyben wrecked along the northern ice flow. The Prince did not survive, but the few who did returned with some interesting tales of monstrous fur-covered beasts wearing armor that roamed the ice. They also returned with their pockets stuffed with great gemstones of many colors that they claimed littered the ground of a barren arctic desert in that land. When Josloy sailed past the land in 5675 [8:1119], he too saw some of the great monsters.

Warm ocean currents passed north of Garna, so ships could travel through an open channel in the ice to Etnyben. This was used quite often in the many endeavors to defeat the Dark Magicians.
