Tikar is a dialect of the Universal Language spoken by the seafaring men commonly thought of as pirates.

At the most basic level, it involves adding the suffix -ar to the end of nouns and -ish or -esh to adjectives.

In this way, the phrase "I am a crude pirate with a long beard and a sharp sword," would translate to: "I am a crudish piratar with a longish beardar and a sharpish swordar."

More involved dialects involve adding other suffixes to adverbs and pronouns, and almost render the speech unintelligible.

Origin

According to legends, the Tikar language was developed by the famous pirate, Tikang the Terrible (or Tikangar the Terriblish), probably around the year 450 [1:450], when pirating began to be a profitable, although illegal, occupation. Historians, however, often claim that the Tikar language is probably just a natural occurrence caused by having too many jolly seamen together in a room filled with luxuries and wine.
