Concept Art
This is concept artwork drawn up throughout the development of Nebulum.
Early Concept Art
The concept of Nebulum technically originated one afternoon when I was bored and decided to make up my own numerical system that was base-25 instead of the base-10 (decimal) that we commonly use. From there it went on to the alphabet of the Universal Language as well. The idea then progressed to the development of Tanarad and the other places of the world. It was at this time that Atalan (Atlantis) and the Five Brothers was developed. These were all drawn between 1999-2001.
-
Base-25 Numerical System. This is what started it all. It is now morphed into the Barbidon currency system.
-
The original Universal Language. Only a few of the letters have since changed.
-
The original land of Tanarad. When it was later remade from memory, the shape was inadvertently flipped.
-
A close-up view of part of the original Tanarad.
-
The original map of Panei.
-
The original map of Sarda. Certain aspects of this map ended up influencing various things later on.
-
Atalan was originally called Atlantis after the mythological sunken city. The original story concept also used this.
-
I originally planned to have five creatures that inhabited the Dark Valley. I forget if there was any special significance for this.
-
The Five Brothers. Interestingly, each has one of the creatures from the original Dark Valley concept designed on their helmets. Theg still carries an axe.
Later Concept Art
Later concept art was drawn in 2005 and later as I needed graphical representations to look at as I attempted to describe things in words. Most of these things were structures or flags. Some have been cleaned up and edited to be used on this wiki.
-
The original concept for the two red dragons of Belgrave. The subsequent changes to the final version were desperately needed.
-
The Island of Kimb. This was about as good as I could draw without getting too complex.
-
A spoonfish. This was made from a scan of early concept art.
-
A na'karden. This one was drawn completely on computer.
-
A stickmoth. This was drawn on paper and then redrawn on computer.
-
Tidri is one of those strange vermin. No one knows where it came from.
-
The fortress of the Dark Magicians.
-
Lover's Decoy was designed as a plant to inhabit the Dark Forest.
-
A rough concept drawing of the saono'modaek.

The White Pillar was hand-drawn and then digitally colored.
