Laantoon appears to be an average city. We arrived late in the morning, and spent the rest of the day visiting the places Alkaar claimed were worth seeing. Tora’Sor, content that Alkaar and Morlo are no longer a threat, sold her spoons. Technically, she traded the spoons for a trained falcon, which she gave to Dawn. It’s a curious gift since none of us know much about falconry, but the person who sold the falcon said it wasn’t very difficult to handle. Dawn just needs to make sure it gets enough food and other commonsense things when caring for animals. There was also a very specific instruction to make sure it returns before dark or the giant bats would get it. I told Dawn to give the falcon a name. She said she’d think about it.

Niahla’Sen took her father to a doctor this afternoon. The man isn’t as young as he once was, so she decided it would be a good idea to make sure he’s still physically capable of traveling with us through terra incognito, the unexplored, rugged mountains we hope to find a passageway through. The doctor said Hibimage was fine, but if Niahla’Sen thought there would be a problem, she’d probably travel with him back the way we came, and eventually make her way around the world the other way. I can’t imagine that would be a good idea either, considering how long it would take to reach Forada and sail from there to Perduva.

Kellon spent most of the afternoon interviewing Morlo, no doubt with the hope of writing a book about the Guard Exemplars, a first glimpse at the Kingdom of Saval for the rest of the world. I’m sure it would be an interesting book, but I’m not sure when I’d find the time to read it. There are too many other things for me to do, like find other places to explore or settle into a nice, big house.

Now that I think about it, settling down with a big house has both attractive and unattractive merits. On one hand, I’d be able to relax, enjoy a cozy evening with Dawn, and be the envy of Sodoo. On the other hand, what would I do? I’m the type of person who can’t stay in one place for too long. I need to keep trying new activities, learning new things, and going new places.
